After security experts have discovered Meltdown and Spectre bugs in computer chips that allow hackers to lift passwords, photos, documents and other data from smartphones, PCs and the cloud computing services, Apple said in blog post on the issue: "All Mac systems and iOS devices are affected, but there are no known exploits impacting customers at this time. These issues apply to all modern processors and affect nearly all computing devices and operating systems."

However, Meltdown does not affect the Apple Watch, it said.

As per reports, Meltdown affects most processors made by Intel, the company that supplies the chips for a majority of PCs, while Spectre affects Intel chips, microprocessors from the AMD and the many chips that use designs from the British company ARM.

Meltdown can be fixed by installing a software “patch” on the machine.

The Tech giant Apple, said it had already released some patches and advised downloading software only from trusted sources to avoid "malicious" apps.

As per the statetment, the company has already released “Mitigations" against Meltdown in its latest iPhones and iPad operating system update - iOS 11.2 and the macOS 10.12.2 for its MacBooks and iMacs.

As part of an update by Google, the firm said its Android phones were protected if users had the latest security updates.

Meanwhile, Microsoft said it has already released fixes for many of its services.

Microsoft, Mozilla and Google have already released patches for Internet Explorer, Firefox and Chrome to help address the problem.

Experts advise consumers to keep their software up-to-date.
