2018 Asian games: teenager wins first gold for India

A 16-year-old teenager from a small village in Meerut, Saurabh Chaudhary, has clinched India’s first shooting gold of the 18th Asian Games, in the men’s 10m air pistol event on Tuesday.

The debutant teenager who performed better than a multiple Olympic champion in the qualification shot a Games record score of 240.7 ahead Japan’s Tomoyuki Matsuda (239.7) who won silver.

Tomoyuki Matsuda (42), has represented Japan at the 2008 Summer Olympics, where he got 8th place in the 50 m pistol event and 18th place in the 10 m air pistol event. He also competed at the 2012 Summer Olympics, finishing in 11th place in the 50 m pistol event and 13th place in the 10 m air pistol event.

Meanwhile, Abhishek Vema (29) who is also making his Asian Games debut, has scored total of 219.3and settled for the bronze medal in the same event.
