Asian Games: Deepak Kumar wins silver medal in men's 10m air rifle

Indian shooter Deepak Kumar (31), won the silver medal in men's 10m air rifle event at the 18th Asian Games on Monday.

The pan-Asian multi-sport event is being held from 18 August to 2 September 2018 in the Indonesian cities of Jakarta and Palembang.

Mr Kumar shot 247.7 to finish second behind China's Haoran Yang with a Games record total of 249.1.Meanwhile, Chinese Taipei's Shaochuan Lu (226.8) bagged the bronze. He lost to Indian shooter by a near-perfect score of 10.9.Deepak's compatriot Ravi Kumar, who for the longest time was in third position, finished a commendable fourth.

This is India's third medal at the ongoing Games and second in shooting.

The team of Apurvi Chandela and Ravi Kumar had won bronze in 10m Air Rifle Mixed Team event on Day 1.
