Korea Super Series: PV Sindhu and Sameer Verma progress to quarters

Indian shuttlers PV Sindhu (22) and Sameer Verma (22) advanced to the quarter-finals of Korea Super Series.

The Rio silver medalist Sindhu (22) defeated Thailand’s Nitchaon Jindapol 22-20 21-17 and will now face 2014 World Championships World Championships bronze medalist Minatsu Mitani of Japan.

The fifth-seeded P V Sindhu won over Jindapol in a second-round encounter that lasted 42 minutes.

In men's singles, Sameer Verma also progressed through to the last-eight with an easy 21-19, 21-13 triumph over Hong Kong's Wong Wing Ki. Vincent in a 50-minute clash.

Hong Kong Super Series finalist and Syed Modi Grand Prix Gold winner, Verma defeated his opponent in 41 minutes.

India's another men's singles prospect B. Sai Praneeth bowed out of the tournament with a 13-21, 24-26 hard-fought loss to China's Tzu Wei Wang.

The Korea Open is an annual badminton event that is commonly held in Seoul, South Korea.
