Australian Open: Serena Williams Breaks Steffi Graf's Open-Era Record

American professional tennis player, Serena Williams (35) created history when she beat sister Venus in the Australian Open final and won women's singles title on Saturday, January 28. Serena surpassed legendary German player, Steffi Graf who was ranked world No. 1 during her career and has won 22 Grand Slam singles titles. By defeating her sister Venus 6-4, 6-4 at the Rod Laver Arena, Serena captured a record 23rd Grand Slam title as well as the World No.1. Serena is now just one behind Margaret Court's all-time mark of 24. "I would really like to take this moment to congratulate Venus, she is an amazing person. There is no way I would be at 23 without her. There is no way I would be at one without her. She is my inspiration, she is the only reason I am standing here today and the only reason that the Williams sisters exist," said Serena after the match.
