Parking charges to be increased in Chandigarh from July 1

Chandigarh Municipal Corporation (MC) has taken a decision to increase parking charges in the city from July 1. The new rates will be applicable for 2017-18 and 2018-19.

The MC plans to start the smart parking system in the city starting April 1. If the launch is successful, the rates will be increased 3 months after that. 

For the next financial year, for two-wheelers, the rate will be increased from Rs 2 (full day) to Rs 5 for the first four hours and Rs 5 for the subsequent two hours.

The rates for the four-wheelers will be increased from Rs 5 (full day) to Rs 10 for the first four hours and Rs 10 for the subsequent two hours, which will go to Rs 50 for 10 hours and above. 

For 2018-2019, the rates will be further hiked.

The two wheelers will be charged Rs10 for the first four hours and Rs 10 for the subsequent two hours.

The four-wheelers will be charged Rs 20 for the first four hours and Rs 20 for the subsequent two hours. 

For bus, the rate for 2017-2018 has been increased from Rs 10 (full day) to Rs 20 for the first four hours and Rs 20 for the subsequent two hours.

For 2018-2019, the rate has been fixed at Rs 40 for the first four hours and Rs 40 for the subsequent two hours.
