COI Orders disciplinay action Against Officer Over Row Involving Kashmiri Woman

The Army’s Court of Inquiry (CoI) has ordered disciplinary action against Major Leetul Gogoi, who was detained by the police in Srinagar after a row in a hotel involving a young Kashmiri woman.

The COI held major guilty of "fraternising with a local in spite of instructions to the contrary and being away from the place of duty while in operational area."

The incident took place on May 23, after the staff of Grand Mamta Hotel refused to let the woman in.As per reports, the room was booked online and the major got into a fight with the hotel staff when a woman wasn't allowed to go to the room.

Major Leetul Gogoi was questioned by the police at the station in Srinagar.

Last year, Major Gogoi was allegedly involved in another incident, which resulted in a civilian being tied to the bonnet of the jeep and being used as a human shield during violence in central Kashmir’s Budgam district.
