Hundreds participate in the 3rd Chandigarh Run for Ambedkar

Hundreds of participants took part in the 3rd Chandigarh Run for Ambedkar’ on Sunday, to commemorate the legacy of Bharat Ratna Dr Bhimrao Ambedkar.

The event was organized by the Ambedkar Students Association, Panjab University (PU).

The run took place from Sukhna Lake to Rock Garden in Chandigarh.

The chief guest of the event was SR Ladhar, Punjab cadre IAS officer, who in his speech said that Dr Ambedkar “always fought for the rights of depressed classes and women till his last breath.” He said that we have to learn from Babasaheb for the betterment of the country.

Bhimrao Ramji Ambedkar (14 April 1891 – 6 December 1956), popularly known as Baba Saheb, was an Indian jurist, economist, politician and social reformer who inspired the Dalit Buddhist Movement and campaigned against social discrimination against Untouchables (Dalits), while also supporting the rights of women and labour.

He was Independent India's first law minister, the principal architect of the Constitution of India and a founding father of the Republic of India.
