The Academy Awards might be the most prestigious awards in the US film industry but the Oscars red carpet is one of the biggest fashion moments of the year defining trends in fashion.

A vast majority of actresses this year choose neutral colors or demure silhouettes.

Emma Stone, Jessica Biel, and Charlize Theron have chosen gowns in all shades of gold.

Emma Stone, the star of the Musical La La Land wore one of the best dresses of the night. She walked the red carpet in a gold, fluid-fringed Givenchy gown.

Priyanka Chopra wore an eye-catching geometric Ralph and Russo white-and-silver panel dress hugging her body with shield like front and exposed sides.

Dakota Johnson, the star of the Fifty Shades movies, was wearing a high-necked, full-coverage golden Gucci gown representing a significant style shift from her first appearance on Oscar red carpet two years ago.

Naomie Harris made the boldest fashion choice of the night, in the first Oscar dress to be made by Raf Simons for Calvin Klein. It was kneelength, with a floor length train at the back, and a keyhole cut out at the ribs. The cctress also wore the asymmetric shoes seen at Calvin Klein’s New York fashion week show two weeks ago.
