Amritsar: son of former CKD president Charanjit Singh Chadha kills himself

Inderpreet Singh, son of former Chief Khalsa Diwan (CKD) president Charanjit Singh Chadha has allegedly shot himself in his car on Wednesday.

As per the police, Inderpreet was rushed to Ivy Hospital in Amritsar at around 2 pm, where doctors declared him brought dead.

Charanjit Singh Chadha, and his son Inderbir were booked by police for allegedly sexually harassing a woman principal after a video went viral showing Charanjit in compromising position with a school principal.

After the incident, Charanjit Singh Chadha was expelled from the primary membership of the Khalsa Diwan, central Sikh Organization that runs number of schools, orphanages, old age homes, hospitals and clinics in Punjab. Unlike the Shiromani Gurudwara Prabandhak Committee, the Diwan is an apolitical body and only concerns itself with religious, educational and cultural issues.

The woman had filed a complaint against Chadha and his son, accusing Chadha of misusing his position and “compelling her to have physical relations”. 

“When I refused, he threatened me,” the woman said In her complaint to the police, adding that Inderpreet threatened her on the phone.

Meanwhile, Chadha has claimed that the video is fake and was made in connivance with certain political opponents of his with the intention of extorting money and tarnishing his image. 

As per media reports, on September 20 last year, Chadha had lodged a complaint in Jalandhar,  against unidentified persons, who were seeking ransom for not making the video public. 

On December 29, Charanjit Singh Chadha was removed as the vice-president of Khalsa College Governing Council (KCGC) that manages the college.
