Gurdaspur: police books former Shiromani Akali Dal minister Sucha Singh Langah on rape charges

Gurdaspur police on Thursday has registered a case against Sucha Singh Langah, a former Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) minister, in connection to rape case.

According to reports, a woman employee of Punjab Government has given complaint to Police that Langah was black-mailing and raping her since 2009. The woman, has allegedly attached a video with her complaint. 

The police registerd the case under A case under Sections 376 (rape), 384 (extortion), 420 (cheating) and 506 (criminal intimidation) of the IPC.

No arrest has been made so far, the police said.

Sucha Singh Langah was Minister for Public Works Department from 1997 to 2002 and then Minister for Agriculture from 2007 to 2012.

The registration of case against Lnagah is crucial at a time when by-election of Gurdaspur Lok Sabha seat was scheduled for October 11.
